25 July 2008, Friday
7pm: We went for the ballet under the stars at fort canning green in the evening. Brought our dinner, laid the mat and off we rest our butt on the wet grass. It was a picnic cum performance session, people clicking & cheers off their glasses of champagne while watching the dancers reenacting classic choreographies, in celebration of the Singapore Dance Theatre's 20th anniversary. All the performances were great, especially Cinderella (act 3 pas de deux), Why Not? (excerpts)-I Want to Break Free & Who Wants to Live Forever and FIVES (3rd movement) left the most impressions in me. It is a mixture of classical & contemporary ballet which brought us a beautiful, graceful, fun & an energetic night under the clouds. End 9.30pm
10pm: After watching the performance, we went ahead to SMU Green for the Zouk Beatnik Picnic Party. And there, we caught the light installation by Electric Canvas, displaying their masterpieces on the exterior of the National Museum of Singapore and the Singapore Art Museum. It was eye-candy!

Proceeding to the opposite was the party ground. It was kinda crowded and the security was rather tight too. The first gate that we passed was to ensure that anyone under 16 is not being let in and the second checkpoint was to check our bag and strictly no professional camera! Luckily I hid it well deep in my bag and managed to get in. So, the rest of the photos below was taken by my phone camera. We visited the artist booth, caught sight of our seniors showing the silk screening process...drenched our feet in muds and get happening when the clock striked 12! It's Party time! The international merry noisemakers, Van She took the mic and rock us out! It was a great experience partying out in the open area, and to be surrounded by the arts display of the night festival. Many tourists were there, professional photographers, funky youngsters and people of all ages came to feel our vibrant night life. In order to avoid the crowd, we left around an hour before the party ends. End 1am.
(xf, we missed The Dancing Sky by studio festi (Italy) on the 18 July.)
