Children's Day Celebration at Ang Mo Kio Heartland

29th September 2007, Saturday
4.30pm to 9.30pm

Children's Day Celebration at Ang Mo Kio Heartland
These are shots taken from my house area, showing the wonders of cohesiveness. It is the hard work put together by our GRC, organising events to bond people together. (From the left, a newly plowed field for the elderly to spend their time planting and harvesting their 'crops' and from the right, an event to celebrate Children's Day +lst of Oct).

As what our Prime Minister have said, "We live in a City of Possibilities". Nothing is impossible in this world, so long as we dare to make a difference and dare to change.

Learn from your mistakes, but never regret

Just happened to chance upon this quote at some places, and which I thought it was very meaningful, especially the last sentence... :

"Life is too short...grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can, apologize when you should and let go of what you can't change. Love deeply and forgive quickly, take chances, give everything and have no regrets. Life is too short to be unhappy. You have to take good with the bad smile when you are sad. Love what you got...and always remember what you had. Always forgive, never forget. Learn from your mistakes, but never regret."

Saturday's schedule rundown

Morning - 10.15am to 1.00pm / Location: Home
+ Had a swimming appointment with Xiufeng at 11.00am but it was pouring, so I decided we have to postpone it to the afternoon
+ Breakfast: Roti Prata with Sugar
+ While having to crunch the waiting time, I grabbed a book and laid on my stomach reading on my cozy bed.
+ So, an hour plus had past...I took a nap and waiting for the swim..

Afternoon - 1.00pm to 3.00pm / Location: Swimming Pool
+ Finally, I met up with Xf at the bus stop near the swimming pool
+ And GUESS WHAT? We wore the same tee from our design school orientation! Lol
+ Swam a few rounds across the breadth of the pool & 2 times back from the length
+ It was refreshing as the sun was soft on us
+ And, hurray! We got a slight tanned hehe.

Late Afternoon - 3.30pm to 6.30pm / Location: AMK Hub
+ So after the dip, we went for our lunch at the Sumo House & YES, salmon sashimi (sakedon) for me again! Haha
+ The reason I love going back to the Sumo House is that it is by far the cheapest Japanese food you can find...$4.90 for a set and the cheapest can go down to $2.90...plus free flow of green tea
+ Which I think is a very good catch for people who love Jap food while having tight-budget =)
+ After lunch, we just walked around Amk hub and oogling at those artsy-fart stuffs at the ARTBOX. I love their notebooks, totes and even their umbrellas! They were simply so cool to use, while their prices aren't that cheap either.
+ Well so...we just came out empty-handed again! Haha. Maybe if there is a need, I might consider grabbing one someday...perhaps. *Ps: The umbrella is gorgeous...40+ bucks, does it worth for an umbrella?
+ Ok, so we decided to get that out of our head for now and ya, I needed to get some groceries shopping done at the Shop & Save before getting home.

Night - 6.30pm to 1.ooam / Location: Home Sweet Home
+ My mum whipped up some nice dishes and we had a neat dinner tonight
+ Boy finally got back home after a 3-4 days camp
+ And Sis got home from her gym work
+ After dinner, I was back to my book again...White Lies and Barefaced Truths by author Cathy Hopkins
+ Just managed to finish the whole book a few hours ago
+ It was a book about truths, white lies, then half-truth and fibs. Then they went talking about good and bad lies, some to protect, some to keep the peace and some that are plainly cowardly. To put it this way, we can also categorise them as Cowardly lies, Compassionate lies, lies to make you buy things, political lies and false promises. So question asked...are you gona be a honest person or a fibber?
+ In the end, the answer goes down to honesty. Honesty is best but it's important to be aware of people's feelings when we have something to say. Sometimes we just have to adjust the truth. More importantly, to be true to yourself.
+ Ok, some lessons learnt.
+ Want something lighter too? Have a laugh at this silly girl ok? Hahaha
Emma's the baby girl who is Cat, the narrator younger sis, was playing with her dolls one day, and was trying to force-feed one of them. She said, 'Open your mouth, bad doll'. And so when the doll wouldn't eat, she pulled its head off, crammed the biscuit in the body, then put the head back on. 'There, good girl, now your tummy's full.'
+ So silly~

Indulgence in life

08 September 2007

Afternoon - 2.30pm to 4.30pm / Location: Orchard/Far East

+ Went De Total Look with Roslind for a facial appointment
+ We did facial wash (squeezing out black head, mask, face aroma & blah~), Eyebrow trimming & lastly the most comfy Massage! haha
+ After the first time trial, we signed up for the full package which is going to last for 10 sessions.
+ I think i need a massage once a month to de-stress myself from everything.
+ It is the only place which I can really rest my feet and relax myself...lying down on the bed & listen to the soothing music. =)

Evening/Night - 6.30pm to 9.00pm / Location: Cityhall/Marina Square

+ After breaking up with Roslind, I met up with our Ernest at the Cityhall Mrt Station
+ Waited for Joan till around 7.30pm before heading towards Spageddies Italian Kitchen for our dinner
+ The main theme for today gathering was to have our 'last dinner' with our Pre-enlistee Ernest. (He will be going to BMT next Wednesday)
+ I had Clam Chowder Soup as appetizer and Spaghetti Vongole for my main course.
+ The three of us shared the Italian Salad too and it tastes great!
+ After the sumptous meal, we went Suntec to look for Xiufeng who was still working at the push-cart
+ Helped her to pack up and closed the stall

Night - 10.30pm to 11.30pm / Location: Suntec City

+ Together with xiufeng, we sat down at the Starbucks Cafe outside the Suntec City and chatted ...
+ Drinking the Raspberry Black Currant (Franppuccino Blended Juice Drink), while Xiufeng had the Mango Passion Fruit, Ernest had the Green Tea and Joan with her Iced water.
+ Had an enjoyable night sitting and chatting under the moon
+ In the end, we parted while having to catch our last train.

Midnight - 12.00am - 3.00am / Location: Home

+ I reached home at around 12.00am
+ Bathing & slacking in front of the computer...browsing through the photos I took with my phone and listening to the Ministry of Sound - Live Radio
+ Oh ya, I bumped into my colleague, Vikki at the Orchard Mrt Station in the evening
+ And 2 girls from my past Npcc juniors too haha.
+ Ok, I will end my blog here
+ Tomorrow is a new start again, and everyone have to get back to their workforce...giving all their best to the society. All the best everyone! =)

World Food Fair 2007

5th to 9th September 2007
Suntec City Exhibition Centre
Level 4, Hall 403 & 404
Opening Hours: 11.ooam to 10.00pm
Free Admission!
http://www.worldfoodfair.com.sg

I met up with my buddies last night for this World Food Fair 2007 at Suntec City. This was the first time we been to a food fair and were rather disappointed from what we saw. Most of the food sold can be easily found around the city and there were nothing new that would make us 'Wow'. It was basically a resemblance of a Pa Sa Malam and almost far-fletch from what we had imagined a World Food Fair would look like. Maybe something more high-class? However, we still tried out the Taiwan Feng Lou Ge Xiao Chi (Da Ji Pai & Yan Su Ji), Shark Fin Soup (with lots of vinegar & pepper), Tako (Japanese food) & BBQ Sausage (Korean food). The China Peking Duck looked good too, though I didn't bought it as it cost around 6 bucks for just 4 pieces of duck meat! After all, we still have to go down to the food republic to fill our stomach haha. *Taiwan Shi Lin Xiao Chi still tasted better than Taiwan Feng Lou Ge Xiao Chi.

Food Republic at Suntec Convention Hall

Amazingly, we did not know there were so much surprise at the Food Republic. The whole area was done up like a Harvard Law School Library, with classic tables, chairs & beautiful lamps and of course the books! It was very inspiring for me and struck a reminder that it is time to get a book and settle down! Haha. And yea, so I just went to borrow two books; 26a by Diana Evans and Totally Brilliant by Cathy Hopkins.
